An Indianapolis native. Reid joined the Marine Corps in October 2010, enlisting to active duty as a Combat Engineer. He was sent to MCRD San Diego, California where he reported for bootcamp. After bootcamp he was assigned to Combat Engineer Instruction Company for Combat Engineer school. After graduating in April 2011, he was then assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in North Carolina. In March 2013 he was selected as part of a detachment to deploy to Afghanistan. In October 2014 he returned to Indiana from active duty. Shortly after returning home he contacted a prior service recruiter and joined the Marine Corps Forces Reserve. He was then assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 25, Engineer Services Company. In February of 2017 the company sent a detachment on deployment to Central America covering Honduras, Guatemala and Belize. In March of 2018 he checked out of his unit and began a new journey.
In December of 2017, Reid accepted a conditional offer from the Indianapolis Fire Department. He accepted the offer and began the recruit academy for the Indianapolis Fire Department in February 2018. Graduating in August of 2018, Reid became a probationary firefighter for IFD. Reid is currently on the Indianapolis Fire Department and no longer on probation. He loves his career, knows where he came from and strives to be the best he can be.
